P.E.O. sisterhood holds special place in reader’s heart

To the editor:

Thank you for the front page article on Monday, July 23, regarding the delegation of Newton members of the P.E.O. sisterhood who attended the state P.E.O. convention on June 2 and 3. The P.E.O. sisterhood is an important component of my family heritage.

My grandmother, Mabel Smith Billingsley, was initiated as a member of Newton Chapter AO in the early 1920s and became the Charter President of Chapter HS when it was formed on April 18, 1933. My great-grandmother, Flora Billingsley, was Charter Chaplain of Chapter HS.
