Colfax Music in the Park to feature Slipstream

Slipstream will perform beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday during Music in the Park in Colfax on the Anspach Stage in Women’s Club Park, located on 13 E. Division St.

Slipstream is a new seven-member band with members from Newton and Des Moines who play a mix of soft rock from the 1970s through today. Group members draw on their experiences performing with other popular central Iowa bands such as Fat Bob, Flatland Frank and the Flat Cats, The Sons of Gladys Kravitz, The Eight Track Band, Likely Suspects, the Kruze Band and Landsharks, as well as several Newton Community Theatre productions.

Also on Saturday, there will be a fundraiser in memory of Blake Wood starting at 6 p.m. with a 5K trail run and a 1K fun run/walk. Blake’s Race will end at Women’s Club Park so runners can enjoy the performance after their run. Proceeds from Blake’s Race will go to the Above and Beyond Cancer Survivors program.
