Margaret Pender

Margaret “Peggy” Edwards Pender, 76, of Newton died Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A gathering will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. Following the gathering there will be an informal time to share stories. There also will be a private family memorial service on Monday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The daughter of Omar and Iva (Hipsley) Hummel, Peggy was born on Feb. 26, 1936, in Newton. In 1953, she was united in marriage to Russell A. Edwards. She worked for several years as a caretaker at Clearview Manor in Prairie City and also would do respite care following Clearview’s closing.
