Kellogg makes a new name for itself with kickball

If you have driven past Holmdahl Park recently, you may have noticed dozens of cars, crowds of cheering fans and scores of energetic athletes all thoroughly enjoying themselves at one of the park’s newest activities: the Adult Kickball League.

The City of Kellogg is making a name for itself in the fact that it is home to one of Iowa’s premier kickball leagues. At this time, there are only two other league-type kickball associations to be found in the state. The Kellogg Kickball League was formed just this month after the concept was first suggested on Facebook and via flyers and word of mouth. Almost immediately, seven teams of 10 people were established, named and provided with a set of rules modeled after the World Adult Kickball Association official rules.

“Every Wednesday and Saturday night, we come out here to watch kickball. It is really fun because most of us played kickball as kids during recess, and it is rather nostalgic to be a part of it again,” commented one avid fan as he waited for the second game of the evening to get under way. “My kids really have fun watching too, and it is something that we can come out and enjoy as a family. We also really like having the concession stand open down here at the park. Have you tried that new sandwich they serve?”
