Hunter education course Aug. 1, 2

The Jasper County Conservation Board and the Emerson Hough Chapter of the Izaak Walton League will offer a hunter education course from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, and Thursday, Aug. 2, at the Izaak Walton League clubhouse.

The course is free, and all materials will be provided. Participants must be at least 12 years old to take the course. It is necessary for students to attend both days in order to receive certification. Students should also bring a sack lunch.

All hunter education registrations must be completed online. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources requires creating an account online at www.iowadnr.gov/training before registering for the course. Children ages 12 to 14 will be required to register under a parent or guardian’s account. Workbooks for the course should be picked up prior to the course in the conservation office at 115 N. Second Ave. E. in Newton.
