Man maintains innocence in kidnapping

DUBUQUE (AP) — A 34-year-old Dubuque man has continued to maintain his innocence while being sentenced for kidnapping a woman last year.

A Dubuque County jury convicted Scott Robinson on April 13 of first-degree kidnapping, which carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole. Robinson was accused of holding the woman against her will in his apartment and forcing her to perform a sex act.

At his sentencing on Tuesday, Robinson insisted that he was innocent. The judge denied Robinson’s motion for a retrial and pronounced the mandatory sentence.
