PAPILLION, NE (I-Cubs) — The Iowa Cubs (40-55) scored nine runs on 10 hits in the third and fourth innings and beat the Omaha Storm Chasers (58-37) 9-1 at Werner Park on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Cubs earned a split of the four-game series and split the eight games in Omaha for the year. The Storm Chasers won the overall season series 9-7.

The big lead was more than enough for the Cubs’ pitching staff. Starter Chris Rusin (7-6) allowed one run on two hits, walked four, and struck out three in five innings for the win. The only run he allowed came in the fourth inning when he hit David Lough with a pitch while the bases were loaded. Esmailin Caridad allowed one hit over two scoreless innings and Jeff Beliveau was perfect in the eighth. Jay Jackson allowed a hit and walked two in the bottom of the ninth, but got Johnny Giavotella to fly out to end the game.
