Even with his first big-time racing debut right around the corner, West Des Moines native Mason Mitchell has found some time to do what any other teenager probably does with their spare time these days — play video games.

In preparation for tonight’s ARCA Series Prairie Meadows 200, his first race with ARCA, Mitchell has spent plenty of time on his iRacing software to get in as much last-minute preparation as he can before mixing it up with 38 other drivers under the lights at Iowa Speedway.

“It’s been a lot of racing stuff to do, but if I do have any free time I’m always getting on the iRacing software on my computer here,” Mitchell said with a laugh. “I take it pretty serious sometimes, but you’ve got to practice up. It’s really cool.”
