Mustangs survive seesaw battle with Eagles, 6-5
PELLA — The rivalry between Prairie City-Monroe and Pella Christian has played out in multiple ways through multiple sports this season, but Tuesday night went beyond that rivalry for the Mustangs.
After losing eight of its last 10 games, including one to Pella Christian on Senior Night, PCM got a big two-out hit from senior Bryce Wignall in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull away for a 6-5 victory in a back-and-forth district battle.
“I felt like they shut down after that and we were going to come out on top either way,” Wignall said. “We were going back and forth with the scoring and I knew someone was going to come through, I just didn’t know exactly who it was going to be.”
