Food preservation class set for Aug. 2 at local extension office

Jody Gatewood, ISU Extension and Outreach nutrition and health specialist, will teach various methods of safe food preservation — including canning, freezing and dehydrating — during a class being offered from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, at the Jasper County Extension Office.

Participants will learn the most current safe food preservation recommendations and will learn about a new food preservation course being offered by ISU Extension and Outreach called “Preserve the Taste of Summer.”  Participants are encouraged to bring their dial gauge pressure canner lid to get tested.

The class size is limited, and participants must register by July 30. To register, call the Jasper County Extension Office at (641) 792-6433.
