Cubs hold off Storm Chasers for 5-4 victory

The Cubs won their second straight for the first time since June 7-8, defeating the Storm Chasers 5-4 on Saturday night at Principal Park. Solid bullpen performances and clutch hitting late in the game inched Iowa (37-53) over Omaha (56-34).

Iowa’s offense backed its bullpen. Matt Tolbert stayed hot, knocking a double down the line to ignite the Iowa rally in the eighth of Francisely Bueno. Adduci’s first RBI as an I-Cub on the season was a timely one. The right fielder knocked a seeing-eye single to left to score Tolbert and give Iowa a 4-3 advantage. Amezaga provided the Cubs with some insurance, smacking his third hit on the evening. His RBI double off the left field wall to bring Adduci home proved to be the winning run.
