Storm Chasers put stake in I-Cubs’ bats, win 3-0

DES MOINES (I-Cubs) — A pitchers’ duel between Iowa’s Brooks Raley and Omaha’s Ryan Verdugo went in favor of the latter, as the Storm Chasers blanked the Cubs 3-0 at Principal Park on Thursday night.

David Lough busted the game open with a solo shot in the second inning off Raley for the game’s first run.

The Cubs threatened in the third, loading the bases with two outs via three consecutive singles from Diory Hernandez, Alfredo Amezaga and Dave Sappelt. Sappelt tied his season-high, extending his hit streak to six games while going 1-for-4 on the night.
