Fourth of July parade hot but well-attended

The threat of triple digit temperatures did not deter area residents from turning out for Newton’s annual Fourth of July parade. Nor did the temperatures stop participants from marching in the event.

Greater Newton Area Chamber of Commerce Director Darrell Sarmento said he was pleased with the day’s events.

“It was nice timing on the fly-by of the National Guard jets with the veterans on First Avenue,” Sarmento said.
