Raiders' fourth inning ends Tigerhawks' season
COLFAX — There was no comeback this time.
Scoring all four of its runs in the second inning on the strength of six straight singles, the Collins-Maxwell-Baxter softball team controlled Tuesday’s Class 2A Regional first round matchup with Colfax-Mingo throughout, winning 4-0 in Colfax.
Unlike the first two meetings between the Raiders (8-23) and Tigerhawks (9-22), in which each team held a considerable lead before the other nearly rallied back to win, this game was essentially drama-free. After CMB’s big offensive inning, its defense went into cruise control, limiting Colfax-Mingo to three hits the rest of the way.
