IHSAA releases baseball postseason matchups

With the baseball postseason just around the corner, the playoff picture began to recently take form after a number of rainouts and postponed games slowed the process.

Newton will face yet another tough test in the postseason, taking on the team that ended its Cinderella run last season — Southeast Polk — in the first round of substates. The two teams will meet at 7 p.m. on July 13 on the turf field at Southeast Polk

In Class 1A, Lynnville-Sully will host the first two rounds of districts and face Pleasantville in its first game on July 10 at 7 p.m. Pleasantville is 21-7 on the season as of Monday, and the winner of that first-round game will take on the winner of Montezuma and North Mahaska on July 12.
