Digging a little deeper than skin deep

After reading this, you’re probably going to have one of the following thoughts about me. Either I am: 1) the most egocentric human being this side of Donald Trump, or 2) this guy doesn’t know how to sit still.

To those of you who might be inclined to think the former, I just want to emphatically say I really don’t like writing about myself. I may write about past experiences from time to time, or about the antics of my children — Hannah is 7 and Jayden is 4 — who tend to find their way into “column material” all the time.

For instance, when we made our first house-hunting trip to Newton, Hannah made the immediate observation that there are a lot of Cardinal logos around town. The Clarinda mascot is also the Cardinal (it makes sense, it’s an anagram — just move the “L”). This led to the following conversation.
