Newton’s Wright scores goal in all-star game victory

Recent Newton graduate Megan Wright got one last chance to represent the Cardinals on the soccer field over the weekend, and she didn’t disappoint.

Wright scored a goal to help the East squad earn a 3-0 victory in the East-West All-Star Game at Norwalk High School. Held on the school’s new turf, the game time temperature was more than 95 degrees.

“It was nice for me as her coach to see Megan score her final scholastic soccer goal,” said Newton girls soccer coach Sackda Viravong, who was also selected to coach in the game. “Before she entered the final minutes of the game, I told her that she would score a goal and she delivered it big time.”
