PCM softball earns share of conference title
The Prairie City-Monroe softball team wrapped up its regular season schedule with eight wins in its last 11 games, as well as a share of the Heart of Iowa Conference championship.
Tying with Jefferson-Scranton’s conference mark of 13-3, the Mustangs (18-12 overall) were led through the season by pitchers Payge Edwards (8-1 conference record) and Sierra Scarnati (5-2). Offensively, three Mustangs hit at least .400, led by Kelsey Townsend’s average of .455. The team hit .331 overall.
PCM will begin postseason play on Tuesday when it hosts South Tama at 7 p.m. in Monroe.
