Surviving against all odds
The musical toy slowly circling in the crib above her head — softly playing Tchaikovsky’s “Sleeping Beauty Waltz” and other classical selections — does nothing to quell Emelia Mae Pritchard’s crying. Neither does a quick diaper change. The only thing that offers the tiny infant respite from her grumpy mid-morning disposition is to be snuggled in the crook of her mother’s arm.
But Newton resident Emily Pritchard doesn’t mind her 4-month-old daughter’s sometimes cantankerous moods. On the contrary, she’s just happy Emelia made it into this world alive.
