JEDCO executive director gives final report to county supervisors

Jasper County Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Craig Hamilton has issued his last official document. Hamilton will present his annual report for fiscal year 2011-2012 to the Jasper County Board of Supervisors this morning, then present the new director, Newton Mayor Chaz Allen.

The final report was one of guarded optimism.

The fiscal year showed “continued but slow economic improvement over the previous year,” Hamilton wrote in his report. TPI finished its retooling, and the workforce expanded beyond its previous high of 700 employees. Other county employers, including Caleris and Trinity Structural Towers, had steady growth. Walter G. Anderson, the folding-carton manufacturer, opened with 25 employees.
