Iowa Corn Indy 250 highlights Saturday show at Iowa Speedway
A showcase of world-class IZOD IndyCar racing stars, competing in the Iowa Corn Indy 250, will provide the headline entertainment for a whole day of activities on Saturday at Iowa Speedway.
The ‘stars and cars’ of the Indy 500 will be in the starting line-up for the sixth annual 250-lap clash, preceded by a 100-lap Star Mazda race and a 100-mile Firestone Indy Lights shootout, the ‘Sukup 100’.
Gates are slated to open for spectators at 10:45 a.m. Saturday morning, with a special pre-race concert by rising country music star Marlee Scott scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Qualifying for the Star Mazda cars is scheduled for 3:10, with their racing event taking the green flag at 5:20.
Next up will be the Firestone Indy Lights ‘Sukup 100’ race at 6:40, with the IZOD IndyCars ready to do battle on Iowa Speedway’s 7/8-mile paved tri-oval at 9 in the Iowa Corn Indy 250.
“This year’s Iowa Corn Indy 250 may be the best IndyCar show we’ve ever had at Iowa Speedway,” said Doug Fritz, Chief Executive Officer for Iowa Speedway. “We have all the big stars, we have the faster, more exciting new racecars, and we have an ideal start time for our sixth annual edition of this race.”
Tickets for the Iowa Corn Indy 250 start at $20, and are available online at the track’s official website, www.iowaspeedway.com, or at the speedway ticket booths on the day of the show.
