Raider softball rallies for split with Tigers
COLLINS — Having already lost the first game of Tuesday’s Heart of Iowa Conference doubleheader against Gilbert 9-4, things weren’t looking good for the Collins-Maxwell-Baxter softball team early on in game two as it trailed 4-0 in the second inning.
And then the Raiders’ bats got hot.
Four hits in the second inning were capped by a three-run double from freshman MacKenzie Schmitz to get CMB right back in the game, and then three more hits and three more runs in the fourth led the Raiders to their most significant win of the season with a 6-4 victory — earning a split with the Tigers (12-5, 5-2 HOI).
