Police investigate family killings in South Texas

McALLEN, Texas (AP) — Authorities today were investigating what prompted separate killings in which a woman was found dead hundreds of miles from a South Texas motel where her 1-year-old son was shot dead and his 6-year-old brother was critically wounded.

Officers arrested the mother’s boyfriend, 36-year-old Demond Bluntson, on Tuesday at the Holiday Inn-Civic Center in Laredo and were holding him pending formal charges related to the shooting at the motel, Laredo police spokesman Joe Baeza said.

Police were consulting prosecutors about the charges and would not talk about a possible motive.
