Mustang baseball falls
to Gilbert on the road

The Prairie City-Monroe baseball team just can’t seem to extend a win streak past eight games.

The Class 2A No. 5 Mustangs (17-3, 10-2 Heart of Iowa Conference) had their second-straight eight-game win streak snapped with a 4-1 road decision at Gilbert on Tuesday night.

Errors ultimately did PCM in as the two teams went into the sixth inning tied at 1-1, but three unearned Tiger runs came across the plate in the frame due to two Mustang errors. Senior Sean O’Connor was saddled with the loss despite striking out seven and giving up just one earned run on six hits in six innings of work.
