The Newton Police Department’s summer traffic safety mug campaign, Travelin’ Traffic Ace XVI — Safe and Sober, will run through Aug. 30.

The focus of the campaign is to award area motorists for displaying safe and courteous driving. Officers will stop motorists after observing them correctly using turn signals, driving the speed limit, wearing seatbelts, stopping completely at stop signs/light and displaying other safe and courteous driving. The motorist then receives a Travelin’ Traffic Ace XVI travel mug, which is refillable with free fountain soda from participating Newton businesses.

In addition, four drawings from the four distributions of traffic safety mugs will be held with the winner receiving prizes from several participating Newton businesses.
