Though the softball season is only a little more than halfway done, most teams already know who their first postseason opponent will be as the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released the regional softball pairings on Monday.

In Class 4A, Newton will see a familiar foe as it will host Little Hawkeye Conference rival Grinnell in a regional quarterfinal on July 5 at 7 p.m. The winner will play at Vinton-Shellsburg on July 7.

In 3A, Prairie City-Monroe will host South Tama on July 3 at 7, with the winner playing the winner of Williamsburg and Mid-Prairie at Kalona on July 6.
