Investigation of Friday night break-in busts underage drinking party near Kellogg

Jasper County Sheriff's deputies charged 16 people, many of them teenagers, in connection with a break-in of a farm building near Kellogg late Friday night that was the setting for an underage drinking party.

A sheriff's office spokesperson said this afternoon that approximately 30 people and hundreds of alcoholic drink containers were found in the building at 11249 N. 27th Ave. E., a mile-and-a-half south of Rock Creek State Park.

Authorities said 13 of the teens and two 20-year-olds were charged with third-degree burglary as a result of the party. The property's owner told investigators that the subjects did not have permission to hold the party, broke a window to gain access to the building and used electricity during the incident, which the sheriff's department alleges amounts to theft.
