The First Presbyterian Church will host an ice cream social from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church, located at 220 N. Second Ave. E.

The menu will include at least four flavors of homemade ice cream as well as homemade pies and cakes, choice of hot turkey or pork sandwiches, potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans and various drinks. Freewill donations will be accepted, and carry out service will be available. Funds from the event will benefit work projects sponsored by the First Presbyterian Church and its young people, including building wheelchair ramps, home repairs, yard work and cleaning.
