PCM baseball earns sweep of Nevada with 3-0 win

The Prairie City-Monroe baseball team stretched its win streak to six games with a 3-0 victory over Nevada on Wednesday night in Prairie City. With the victory, the Class 2A No. 5 Mustangs got a season sweep of the Cubs.

The Mustangs (15-2, 8-1 Heart of Iowa Conference) got one run in the first inning and two in the fifth in victory over Nevada, which came in at 5-1 in the conference. Senior Kurt Timmons swung the big bat for PCM, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Defensively, the Mustangs got another solid pitching performance from junior Ethan Kain, who improved his record to 4-0 this season with six shutout innings pitched and six strikeouts. Senior Joel Wiggins struck out two in the seventh to earn the save.
