Register by June 23 to help with local Kids Against Hunger event

Jasper County Kids Against Hunger will be packaging food from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 7, at The Way Church, 2306 S. 3rd Ave. E. in Newton.

Teams are asked to donate $30 per person to cover the cost of food to be packaged at the event. Checks may be designated to Jasper County Kids Against Hunger. Each team must have a team contact person with a phone number or email address. Time slots are filled as registration forms are received, so early registrations are more likely to get their preferred time slot. Team information is needed by Saturday, June 23, so that ingredients, bags and cartons can be ordered. The food packages include rice-soy chicken flavored casserole and six dried vegetables with more than 20 vitamins and minerals. Each bag contains 13.8 ounces, which will provide one cooked cup of food for six people at the cost of 25 cents per person.
