Newton girls soccer holds awards banquet
The Newton girls soccer team officially wrapped up its season when it hosted its awards ceremony last week, and junior Kaylie Rhoads walked away with some additions to her trophy room.
Rhoads was named team MVP, and also shared Best Offensive Player honors with senior Megan Wright. Wright led the team with 11 goals, while Rhoads often filled the role of facilitator in the midfield.
Other award winners included sophomore Nikayla Hoffman winning Best Defensive Player and Amber Karsten, Kristin Samson, Katelyn McCarey and Stevi Eggers taking the Will to Win Athlete award. Freshman Rylie Udelhoven and sophomore Emily Forsyth also shared the team’s Rookie of the Year award.
