Tigerhawks survive late Raider rally, win 6-5

COLLINS — Games can sometimes boil down to one big inning, and on Monday night, the Colfax-Mingo softball team’s big inning was just slightly bigger than Collins-Maxwell-Baxter’s.

The Tigerhawks put up six runs in the third inning, then held off a furious Raider rally in the final three to hold on for a 6-5 conference road win in Collins.

“I guess both teams can say we had one bad inning,” CM coach Bryan Poulter said. “From a coach’s standpoint at the beginning of the season, when the bleeding started it was a full-out jugular vein. Now when we get those problems, we seem to get a bandage on and slow it down. But the crucial thing is that they held them the rest of the way.”
