Mary Evelyn Herder, 79, of Monroe passed away Saturday evening, June 9, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A funeral service for Mary will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at the Monroe United Methodist Church. The Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton has been entrusted with the arrangements. Burial will be in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe with Pastor Steve Taylor conducting the services. Memorials are being designated in Mary’s name to the Monroe Fire Department or Skiff Hospice and may be left at the funeral home or church. A time of fellowship and lunch with the family will follow the funeral service.

Mary, the daughter of Albert Leo Brecht Moser and Eva Marie (Davis) Moser, was born May 8, 1933, in Boulder City, Nev. She graduated high school from Riverton, Wyo., and received her degree from St. John’s School of Nursing in Huron, S.D. Mary was employed as a registered nurse at Skiff Medical Center in Newton, OB’s Department.
