Wilson wins on Rahal’s brush with wall

FORT WORTH, Texas (MCT) — If this was the last IndyCar race at Texas Motor Speedway, the farewell came with an interesting race and a bizarre ending in the Firestone 550 on Saturday night.

Well in front with three laps remaining, Graham Rahal clipped a wall in the fourth turn. The ride-wrinkling mistake opened the way for Justin Wilson to sneak past and get his first career victory on an oval. Wilson, with Dale Coyne Racing, was winless in his previous 41 starts overall.

“I saw him sliding more and more every lap,” Wilson said. “I didn’t think there was no chance, but when I saw him hit the wall I thought ‘OK, it’s time to go.’”
