Cardinal girls light up Lincoln 10-3 in Des Moines
If scoring goals is good for what ails you, then the Newton girls soccer team is probably feeling pretty good after Tuesday night.
The Cardinals (7-6, 3-1 Little Hawkeye Conference) got goals from eight different players in their 10-3 route of Des Moines Lincoln at Cownie Soccer Park in Des Moines.
Freshman Anna Barr and junior Stevi Eggers led the way with two goals on four shots each. Also contributing goals were freshmen Macy Leonard and Rylie Udelhoven, sophomores Amber Karsten and Paige Reed, junior Kaylie Rhoads and senior Liz Mount.
As a team, the Cards fired 11 shots on goal and 22 overall. They will try to parlay this success into their next game, which will be a non-conference showdown on Friday against ADM, Adel/Van Meter (8-3) in Adel.
