Supervisors set hearing date for budget amendment

In a short session Tuesday, the Jasper County Board of Supervisors set 9:30 a.m. May 15 as the time and date for a public hearing on the fiscal year 2011-2012 budget amendment.

Jasper County Auditor Dennis Parrott said the amendment is something done each year near the end of the fiscal year to adjust both the county’s revenues as well as expenditures.

Adjustments of revenue include additional income from the local option sales and service tax, sheriff’s fees, sale of seized property, donations to Conservation and Elderly Nutrition, and interest on investments.

On the expenditure side, the major expense is a request for $1.17 million from Secondary Roads Department, for additional gravel material to reshape county roads that have been damaged over the past few years from flooding.

The total ending fund balance as of June 30 will be revised downward by $600,846, for a total balance of $5,368,315.

In other action Tuesday, the supervisors:

• Approved the fifth payment application to Two Rivers Group Inc. for installation of the heating/cooling system in the Jasper County Courthouse, for $325,474.28.

• Approved the hiring of Curtis Cable as program coordinator with the Jasper County Conservation Board for a pay rate of $10 per hour, effective May 9.
