Newton boys tennis dominates Knoxville 9-2
Make it two in a row for the Ñewton boys tennis team.
After an 8-3 win over Pella Christian on Tuesday, the Cardinals took to the road and upended Knoxville on its own court 9-3 on Thursday. Newton is now 3-1 in the Little Hawkeye Conference.
Newton won five of the six singles matches with No. 1 Troy Scott (6-1, 6-0), No. 2 McKinley Brown (6-1, 6-1), Aaron Thompson (6-0, 6-0), No. 5 Heli Nascimento (6-3, 6-0) and No. 6 Jon Tudor (5-7, 6-1, 14-12) all earning wins.
On the doubles side, No. 1 Scott/Brown earned a 6-3, 6-0 victory, No. 3 Nascimento/Tudor won 6-4, 6-1, No. 4 Spencer Hook/Liam Briggs rallied for a 2-6, 6-2, 11-9 victory and Kyle Porter/Nate Hinshaw rounded the night out with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 5 doubles.
Newton will host Saydel in non-conference action on Monday.
