Cecil W. McVay, 86, of Colfax died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at in the Skiff Medical Center Monarch Wing in Newton.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax, with burial following at Colfax Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at Coburn Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.  Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Jasper County, and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The son of Alvin Glen and Mildred Irene (French) McVay, Cecil was born on Sept. 19, 1925, in Deer Trail, Colo. On June 3, 1950, he was united in marriage to Doris Louise Smith in Newton.  Cecil worked at Maytag for over 30 years, retiring in 1980.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Doris of Colfax; three sons, Mike McVay of Colfax, Alan McVay and his wife Malanida of Glendale, Ariz., and Brian McVay of Colfax; two grandchildren, Kristina McVay of Woodbridge, Va., and Paul John DeGuzman of Phoenix, Ariz., and a brother, Bobby McVay of Newton. Preceding him in death were his parents; a step-father, Robert Maples; a brother, Howard McVay; and a sister, Margarie Moon.
