Bill D. Steenhoek, 78, of rural Kellogg died on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg

Memorials to the Kellogg Historical Museum may be left at the funeral home. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home. Please add, Attn: Steenhoek Family on the envelope.

Those left to honor Bill’s memory are his wife of 56 years, Betty; children, Deb Steenhoek of Kellogg, Sandy Nikkel of Grinnell, Mike (Beth) Steenhoek of rural Sully and Pam (Jeremy) Lowe of Napoleon, Mo.; his seven grandchildren, Dana (Dustin) Dunsbergen, Brandon Zylstra, Ryan Nikkel, Rebecca (Jon) Puls, Jacob Nikkel, Andy Steenhoek, Brad Steenhoek; seven great-grandchildren, Joshua, Mason, Carter, Reese, Jordyn, Bode and Addison; his three brothers, Henry Steenhoek Jr. of Utah, Ron (Linda) Steenhoek of Knoxville, Dick (Judy) Steenhoek of Henderson, Nev.; and special niece, Marcia (Val) Swenson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Vera (Berkenbosh) Steenhoek; his son-in-law, Kern Nikkel; his sister, Willadean (Robert) Wallace; and his sister-in-law, Ada Steenhoek.
