Newton police investigating death of infant

Newton Police are investigating the death of a Newton infant who died last month.

Lt. Wes Breckenridge said Friday evening that six-month-old Kaiden Michael Olea, the son of Joseph Olea and Chelsea Miller was taken to Skiff Medical Center on Jan. 10. Kaiden died at a Des Moines hospital on Jan. 15 due to unspecified illness and/or injury.

The investigation into the death is ongoing. Breckenridge indicated that authorities are currently awaiting the results of the autopsy, which can take approximately four to six weeks to complete.

Harry Richard no this baby did not get left alone in a house on a stove. I am friends with the father. While it is not my place to say what i was told happened i will say that this precious child was not left in the house alone.
