The popular live, weekly radio show, Horsepower Hour, has been set for the 2012 race season. Broadcasting on KIX 101.1 FM, the motorsports talk show will be back on its regular Monday night time slot of 6 p.m.

Chuck Spicer of Iowa Speedway and Todd Collins of Iowa’s Best Country, KIX 101.1 FM will be the hosts for the hour-long show that will feature everything the listeners are accustomed to: live call-ins from racing personalities, call-ins from fans, predictions and recaps and live audience shows that occur on race weeks. Some of last year’s race week guests included Iowa Speedway designer Rusty Wallace; NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Justin Allgaier; INDYCAR’s Tony Kanaan, and Mike Conway; and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series director Wayne Auton.

“Last year, the guests who called into the show and the ones who were in person at the Newton Club were the best to date,” Spicer said. “This year, we will continue to get the personalities our listeners and fans want to hear from — the top drivers and the top influencers in the garage.”

Collins, who is the morning show host for KIX 101.1, shared the same sentiment.

“Our listeners have come to hear some of the biggest names in racing on our local radio show. To bring names like Petty, Andretti, Wallace, Childress and others into the homes and cars of central Iowa is pretty cool.”

Horsepower Hour can be heard live every Monday from February 20 to November 19, except on race weeks when the show moves to Newton Club at Iowa Speedway. Horsepower Hour would not be possible without help from Brian Smith of Newton and Marshalltown Culver’s, and U.S. Cellular.
