Church Club Notes
Community Heights
Alliance Church
Primetime Fellowship
Chuck Harris welcomed 30 Primetimers to the Jan. 16 meeting at the Community Heights Alliance Church with the admonition, “We needed to get out with this beautiful weather.”
It was the church Fourth Annual Prayer and Fasting Week with the theme being “For the Honor of the Savior.” Pastor John led devotions, noting that to “fast” means primarily “not to eat” and that fasting always centers on spiritual purposes. Because physical problems resulting from fasting could be a problem for Primetimers, Pastor John encouraged the seniors to consider other options that serve the same purpose by focusing on reading the Bible and praying.
Host were Bob and Donna Baarda, Illa Guthrie, Maxine Atwood, Gladys Harris and Jack Calhoun. Betty Robinett was a first time visitor. Door prizes went to Calhoun, Nancy Douglas, and Guthrie. Birthdays celebrated were for Calhoun, Bert Doane and Gladys Harris. Hosts for Feb. 20 potluck will be Larry and Judy Bell and John and Virginia Vander Schel.
A noon meeting on Monday, March 19t, will feature a meal of soup, sandwiches and dessert hosted by Bert Doane, Harriet Gorr and Glennys Ward. A sign-up sheet is available.
The Primetime Spring Banquet will be on Friday, April 20, with 1950s themed music. The menu for the meal will be decided later, and there will be a sign-up sheet for volunteers to help in different areas.
