David Lane Dodd, 68, of Denver, Colo., a Newton native, passed away Jan. 20, 2012, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He attended Newton Senior High School and Iowa State University. After college, David served in the U.S. Army.
David is survived by his wife of 45 years, Elizabeth (Dee Dee Becket); two sons and their wives, Derek (Diane) and Jonathan (Kim); and five loving grandsons, Logan, Brandon, Ryan, Trenton and Alex. He is also survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Terry (Olga) Dodd; sister-in-law Mary Ann (DeGrado) Dodd; and other relatives and many friends. Preceding David in death were his parents, Max and Mickey Dodd, and brother, Mike Dodd.
In keeping with David’s final wishes, no services are being held.

My youngest brother, David Dodd, who passed away on January 20 will be remembered by some in Newton for his exceptional play on the NHS gof team in the early 1960s. Dave was a quiet, unassuming family man. His family and friends loved him very much and we will greatly miss him. May God rest his soul.
