Van Zee — 100th birthday

Edna Van Zee is celebrating her 100th birthday today, Jan. 20, 2012, at Newton Village.

Edna is very active in the Newton Village community, playing pool with her friends, taking the steps instead of the elevator, helping with the exercise activities and playing piano for the church services. She claims she would still be turning cartwheels, but the staff discourages that activity.

Edna and her husband, Bill, farmed in the Prairie City community for many years. She taught school before she married and was an active community and church member all her life. She loves to read, play cards and visit with friends and relatives who come to call. Birthday cards may be sent to Edna at 122 N. Fifth Ave. W. #219, Newton, IA 50208.
