• Dawn M. Foreman-Renaud, 45, of Newton was charged with fourth-degree theft and possession of a schedule IV prescription drug Wednesday in connection with a Sept. 8 incident when she allegedly took an unopened bottle of anti-anxiety medication from Walgreens. According to a police report, the $218 bottle of alprazomlam/Xanex was discovered missing at 10:40 a.m. After a 4-month long investigation, the NPD determined that Foreman-Renaud was their primary suspect and summoned her to the department office to receive charges. It is unknown how the subject had access to the medication, and a spokesperson from the NPD could not say if video surveillance was used in her apprehension. Foreman-Renaud was released to appear in court.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. It is the policy of the Newton Daily News to release the names of individuals charged with a crime who are 15 and older.
