Book Review of the Week by Library Staff Member Sarrah Knight
Years before she is sentenced to hang as a witch, Martha Carrier was the bold daughter of a man who frequently sent her to live with other family members. A prequel to “The Heretic’s Daughter,” “The Wolves of Andover” (retitled “The Traitor’s Wife” for paperback) is written by a true descendant of Martha and Thomas Carrier and is based on family lore. When Martha lands at her cousins’ home to help prepare Patience for the birth of her third child, she becomes aware of an indentured servant named Thomas, whose mysterious past gradually comes to light as agents of the second King Charles pursue him through the colonies for his part in the English Civil War.
