Registration for enrollment in the Newton Community Preschool will begin Monday, April 11, at the Emerson Hough Educational Center, located at 700 N. Fourth Ave. E.
Preschool registration is on a first come, first serve basis, as there are a limited number of spaces. Applications, which will be accepted until spaces are filled, can be found at the Emerson Hough office or on the district website at www.newton.k12.ia.us. Click on the preschool link and download the document using the preschool application button.
The Newton Community Preschool provides programs for two different age groups:
• Three-year-old program (students must be 3 on or before Sept. 15, 2011). This program has a monthly tuition of $25.
• Four-year-old program (students must be 4 on or before Sept. 15).
The program is funded by the State Voluntary Preschool Program Grant. School district officials are waiting for the legislature to approve funding for next year but will continue to accept applications. Eligibility is currently based on income. Complete an application to know if your child will qualify.
