Iowa State Sen. Dennis Black has been endorsed by the Iowa Corn Growers Association Political Action Committee (IGCA PAC).

Black is running for re-election to Senate District 21, which includes Jasper and eastern Polk Counties.

“It’s a great honor to be supported by an industry so essential to Iowa’s economic future,” said Black in a released statement. “Many families in Senate District 21 depend upon Iowa’s great agricultural tradition for their livelihood and I will always work hard to support them.”

According to the Corn Growers Release:

The ICGA PAC established bipartisan support for Democrats and Republicans for the 2010 state and federal races, including 33 Democrats and 33 Republicans.

“Political decisions here in Iowa are critical to the future of farming,” said Bruce Rohwer, PAC chair. “PAC support is one tool we can use to help elect people who have supported corn growers’ policies and who have taken action on issues that matter to corn growers.”

ICGA PAC decisions are made through an objective analysis including candidate responses to the group’s survey, voting records, letters and other quantified evidence of support. The ICGA PAC committee members include farmers from across Iowa, with an equal balance of party affiliation to ensure decisions are based only on corn growers’ policies.

“And if we can do more to support the continued growth of the renewable energy industry and Senator Black’s ability to sell our product overseas, then we can ensure continued job growth and economic success in our rural communities,” Rohwer said.

“These jobs that are dependent on the land cannot be exported from Iowa.”
