Department
• Jody N. Collins, 38, of Newton was arrested on a warrant at 8:40 p.m. Thursday at 2305 East 19th St. N., Apt. C7. The report states Collins had an outstanding Jasper County warrant for a probation violation. Collins was placed into custody and transported to jail.
• Alex N. Jenkins, 15, of Newton was charged with serious assault at 4:40 p.m. Sept. 1 at Emerson Hough, located at 700 N. Fourth Ave. E. The report states Jenkins got into an altercation with juvenile female. When the female tried to leave Jenkins punched her, causing a cut to the female’s lip. Jenkins was referred to juvenile services.
• Casey J. Miller, 35, of Newton was charged with driving while license revoked at 9:47 a.m. Thursday in the 100 block of South Second Avenue East. The report states Miller’s vehicle was stopped for a stop sign violation. An identity check showed that Miller’s license has been revoked for an operating while intoxicated (OWI) test failure. Miller was given a warning for no insurance and having plates that weren’t for the vehicle being driven. Miller was placed into custody and transported to jail before eventually being released to appear in court.
• Juan F. Morales-Macias, 22, of Newton was charged with driving while license suspended at 5:47 a.m. Sept. 1 in the 700 block of North 19th Avenue East. The report states Morales-Macias’ vehicle was stopped for speeding. An identity check showed Morales-Macias’ license was suspended. He was given a warning for speeding and released to appear.
• An 11-year-old juvenile male from Newton was charged with simple assault at 4:50 p.m. Aug. 31 at 1762 West Fourth St. N., #2. The report states the juvenile rode his bike into another boy, causing the boy to receive a scrape. The suspect was referred to juvenile services.

Sheriff’s Office
• Christopher L. Boagard, 30, of Carlisle was arrested on a warrant at 9:43 p.m. Thursday by Carlisle police and handed over to a Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputy at the Polk County line on Highway 163. The report states Boagard had an outstanding Jasper County warrant for failure to appear in court. Boagard was placed into custody and transported to jail.
• Edward G. Gilmore, 31, of Colfax was charged with driving while license suspended and barred for being habitual offender and non-payment of Iowa fines at 11:57 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Highway 117 South and South 60th Avenue West. The report states Gilmore’s vehicle was stopped for speeding and during the stop it was discovered a passenger in the vehicle — Christina M. Britt, 28, of Colfax — was the owner of the vehicle and had allowed Gilmore to drive. Britt was charged with permitting an unauthorized person to drive. Britt and Gilmore were both placed into custody and transported to jail.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. It is the policy of the Newton Daily News to release the names of individuals charged with a crime who are 15 and up.
