Dogs, owners raise 
money for dog park

Approximately 60 people and 42 dogs turned out Saturday morning for the Fast and Furriest Dog Walk/Run at Agnes Patterson Park. First place went to Lori DeVries and her Brittany Izzie; second was Nick Smith and Izzy the Akita mix; and Shawna Stevenson and her yellow lab Sasha was third. The event raised an estimated $2,500 for the Newton Dog Park at Westwood. Organizers say the signage is now up at the dog park, with an official opening scheduled for late September.
